Last week, Mayor Gavin Newsom issued a stern warning to the City’s leaders establishing a baseline of attendance standards for City Commissions.  In his memo he set a working goal of 100% attendance with a “practical” benchmark of 90% to provide for the occasional illness or family emergency.

Following the Mayor’s lead, I have asked the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors to collect information on Supervisor attendance at meetings of the Board and various other boards and commissions on which we serve.  For 2006 Board meetings (including committees), initial data indicates while most Supevisors are meeting the Mayor’s 90% “practical” benchmark, I am the only Supervisor meeting the Mayor’s working goal of 100%.  Here’s an initial list of how we’re doing.  Don’t forget, showing up is half the battle!
