“The leadership fight thus far has taken on an unprogressive machine-like demeanor, bullying for a desired outcome. This sets a troubling tone…” Ross Mirkarimi
I called Ross Mirkarimi early this morning to get a clarification on this letter that appeared in today’s San Francisco Bay Guardian. I have not yet received a call back. With more time available, I would wait longer to make this post.
Ross artfully avoids accusing me of bullying, while interjecting that very same idea into the public debate. Ross certainly knows that the meme of Chris Daly as bully is out there. It’s unfortunate that he would be using these unprincipled attacks on a progressive Supervisor to his personal advantage.
To the contrary, while Ross has been making the tough sell to colleagues, I have largely been hands-off in the internal lobbying efforts for Board President. I’ve made my position known publicly, but I have only initiated 2 conversations with colleagues about the Board Presidency. I expect political projection from the Newsom camp, not from my progressive colleague.

Supervisor Daly, it seems to me that you don’t mind dishing it out, but when others get rough with you, you start whining about it. You can’t have it both ways.

Thank you Chris for throwing you hat into the ring. You listened to us that encouraged you to at least do it for you constituents.
The Newsom puppet masters have spent years spinning why you would upset they’re rein, but as we have come to see this. An example to the fact was Ms. Maxwell’s showing her true colors out in public, with her alignment of ( through desperation) with the ones who push the people out who have lived in her district longer than she has been alive, and as well as the ones that are decedents, by right of birth.
Today has really been a progressive moment, we pushed back the oppressors once again. And once again you lead the moment. I saw the whole thing better than anyone else from my seat throgh the lens of SFGTV.
Thanks Chris for leading.

With the number of hits I’ve taken over the years from El Greco alone, he should know I can take it. But I understand why he would cast aspersions on my effective response.

I think that it is great that John got the role he coveted on the Budget Committee. It is a good consolation prize and San Francisco should be thrilled that they have someone like him in that position.
That said, I think that, in addition to pursuing major local tax increases in a June election, he should expect and prepare for further declines in revenue due to the still deflating housing bubble and, perhaps just as significantly, the impending commercial real estate downturn. These will provoke further waves of bad debt. The eventual downfall of the dollar will also present significant problems locally during his first term.

Thank you for your comments on the Rules Committee regarding unions. A lot of city workers don’t want to be part of a union, the fee is automatically deducted from the pay check. But when you need representation they spent more money telling you no than doing their job. In my case, local 535 denied representation twice, and I was a shop steward for 15 years of my 23 years of service. Me and my family support you all the way. You are doing your job not playing politics. Thank you!!!!!
