The second funniest thing about the “Let’s Really Work Together Coalition” is their use of imagery. For the life of me, I can’t figure what Jim Sutton and his downtown cronies were thinking when they decided to use a marionette on their campaign literature. If they wanted to only convey theater, they could have used the Janus masks or even a picture of a theater marquis. Instead, they chose to use the politically loaded image of a marionette.
Gavin Newsom’s top people have been on the phones making the hard sell to downtown’s bag men to fill No on E’s coffers. The Guardian’s Sarah Phelan covered the late flow of downtown money that includes a post-filing check of $25,000 to No on E from the Committee on Jobs. (As of October 20th, No on E had already spent over $110,000. By contrast, the Yes on E campaign has an entire campaign budget of less than $1000.)
The best observation that I’ve heard is from the SF Party Party’s Ted Strawser. “Maybe downtown is sending a message to Newsom — that they still own him.”

Way To Go Chris
Maybe they were predicting Mayor Newsom’s costume this year…
